Dang SB you really did that! Roni and Phoenix literally have my WHOLE HEART! I absolutely loved watching Roni take back her control and become the badass she was meant to be, even after everything she endured. As a survivor of SA myself, her journey hit me on a much deeper level. Seeing her reclaim her power and refuse to let her trauma define her was incredibly emotional and powerful. And PHOENIX?! 🥵 Who doesn’t love an age gap, morally gray man?!? The absolute obsession this man has for Roni! I love an MMC who is completely gone for his girl and would go to the ends of the earth for her. The kind of man who makes it clear that she is HIS person, and there is nothing he wouldn’t do for her. Give me that unhinged, ride or die devotion EVERY SINGLE TIME! Enter the strong FMC who fought to reclaim herself and an obsessed MMC who would move heaven and earth for his woman. What more could I ask for?! I would give this 10 stars if I could but 5 HUGE STARS will have to do. If you love dark romance, badass females, and a man who is absolutely feral for his woman, add Simon Says to your list of must reads!

I did enjoy this book. It’s dark, sexy and suspenseful. The only thing that would have made this better in my opinion is giving more to the story during the 2 year fast forward and having a few more answers to some of the questions I was left with. But his other books I believe will be the ones to fill these in. Definitely worth the read.

I feel conflicted about this book because it had a lot of potential. The start grabbed my attention and I liked the idea of Phoenix and Roni. Just to be clear, the dark subject matter wasn’t the issue for me. I’ve read a lot of dark romance, so things like kidnapping, trafficking and other dark subjects didn’t put me off. The main issue was the execution and pacing. The book seemed to change direction, and some parts that needed more development felt rushed, while other scenes had too much unnecessary description.

Unfortunately this did not completely hit for me. The bones of the story were there and I loved the ideas. In fact I was actually really excited for the arc. It started out decent. Phoenix coming into town and meeting Roni at the coffee shop. Coming back daily and being dark and mysterious. I liked the age gap. The book has very dark themes of kidnapping and traffiking. With an auction and a hunt type situation which didn’t bother me at all and actually gave it some depth, but when it came down to it the execution just didn’t run smoothly. After Roni is kidnapped and rescued the whole thing jumps time and becomes a whole different book. It becomes less believable. One I felt like she fell into her cam girl biz really fast for her trauma healing and two I can’t imagine Phoenix’s possessive ass letting her even go there even if it is how she deals with her past. Plus it just got a bit boring. Pages of description of her getting ready but blowing over key parts that I felt needed more explaining. All in all it seems some people are really enjoying this book for what it is which is some dark smut but I needed a bit more in the plot dept. A copy of this book was provided by the author. Roni je poměrně spokojená se svým single životem i prací, kde jednoho dne potká Phoenixe (oh to jeho charisma!). Přeskočí temná jiskra a chvíli nevíte, kdo koho víc zajímá, jestli ona něj, nebo on ji. Roni má víc kuráže než jsem za poslední dobu u knižní hrdinky potkala ale i poměrně slabé chvilky, kdy jsem si klepala prstem na čelo- všichni víme, že do auta k cizím mužům a kór večer se prostě neleze! Tak se stane, že se naše hlavní hrdinka ocitne na šeredném neznámém místě, kde se sexuálně obchoduje se ženami. Jejím jediným štěstím je, že Phoenix ví, kde se tohle místo nachází. Díky svému vlivu a tomu, že je tak trošku počítačový mág je naštěstí po aukci a honu schopný dostat Ronie k sobě. To, že ji už nikdy neopustí je myslím jasné. Ronie se snaží vyrovnat s tím, co se jí stalo a díky obdobě OF má kontrolu nad vším co ukáže i muži, kteří za to víc než rádi zaplatí. No a tady se setkáváme se Simonem. Neznámým mužem, který s Ronie hraje nebezpečnou hru. Když hrozí, že se vše znovu zvrtne, oddechnete si, protože tu je Phoenix, který svoji ženu jen tak nedá!💕

Simon Says is a very dark, intense romance that tackles heavy themes like trauma, power, and survival. The author is clear about content warnings, which I appreciated, and the story doesn’t shy away from exploring difficult emotions. I had a harder time connecting in the early chapters, as the pacing was a bit slow for me at first. However, as the story unfolded, the characters and overarching plot became more engaging, and I could see the depth and intention behind the narrative. Overall, this isn’t an easy read, but it’s a meaningful one. Readers who enjoy dark romance and psychological tension will likely appreciate it, especially once the story hits its stride.

This book didn’t just capture my heart, it shattered it in the most breathtaking way possible. I was completely consumed, left reeling from the emotional intensity, and utterly desperate to find someone like Simon in the real world. Roni stood out as a force of quiet strength, her trauma not breaking her but forging her into something resilient and undeniably beautiful. And then there’s Phoenix who’s infuriating, magnetic, and impossible to ignore. From the start, he grated on every nerve, his arrogance and the way he treated Roni painting him as nothing short of insufferable. There was a sharp, almost suffocating edge of narcissism to him that made every interaction burn and more than once, I found myself wanting to reach through the pages just to put him in his place.

Holy sh...what did I just read. What a ride with main characters who are really messed up. When you think this could not get any crazier, well it does. This book got me silent and that definitely rarely happens. The plot twist at the end I did not see that coming. When you are going to read this book be sure to check the trigger warnings.
