I don’t even really know what to say about this book. The Bleeding Hour is… heavy. Like actually heavy. Not in a “dark romance spicy drama” way, but in a way that feels uncomfortable and sad and kind of suffocating at times. It’s about trauma and abuse and how that basically shapes every part of someone’s life, and you really feel that while reading it. Like you’re stuck in Gabriel’s head and it’s not a nice place to be, but you also can’t look away. The timeline confused me a bit here and there, not gonna lie. I had to pause and go back a few times to make sense of things. What stuck with me most is just the feeling of it. It’s not plot twists or big shocking moments, it’s more like this constant weight sitting on your chest the whole time you’re reading. But at the same time, it’s incredibly well written and so immersive that I couldn’t put it down.

While I did enjoy this book, it did take me a while to get a hang of the timeline. I did see the ending coming a mile away, but that's my brain. This story is intense and fueled by abuse and trauma. The way it can shape a young mind and what lengths the brain will go through to protect from a violent event. All in all this was a very interesting read. Check your triggers, this book is horrors personified.

ARC review Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Holy cow this was intense!! The story and writing was so good! It was very dark! I did not want to stop reading. I was locked in! It has some parts that had me shaking my head, I felt shocked and some parts had me close to tears.

The Bleeding Hour is a psychological, erotic, horror thriller that will immediately grab you right from the beginning. This story touches on a lot of difficult topics, so I would suggest reading those trigger warning. This story will twist you psychologically in so many ways, you'll be in knots at the end. Contract killer Gabriel is laying on the streets, bleeding out, recounting his traumatic past of childhood abuse at hands of his father and his first bully where he meets Howard. His meeting with his Howard is what shapes the rest of his life and who he will become. Through his connection with Howard, he takes brutal jobs. Through Howard his also meets his wife, Malysh. However, Gabriel is also being stalked by a demon who keeps confronting him with the horrors that is his life. As we read through Gabriel's therapy sessions, we can see how broken and tormented Gabriel's psyche really is. This story is unsettling and mind twisting. By then end... I had to have a minute to stare at a wall. The plot twists keep coming and coming and I never saw that ending coming! The story is dark and delves into some difficult topics. But it shows the true madness of what years of trauma and abuse can turn into.

I just finished The Bleeding Hour: A MAKE YOUR WISH Novel by S.B. Rogue, and honestly, it was unlike anything I’ve ever read before. This book is dark, painful, unsettling, and emotionally intense in a way that constantly kept me on edge. At times, it genuinely triggered me—but I believe that was exactly the author’s intention. Throughout the story, I found myself second-guessing everything and wondering if I was missing something important. The writing is incredibly clever and layered, and I never saw the ending coming. I had so many questions while reading, but S.B. Rogue told me to be patient—and the patience was absolutely worth it. Every answer came together perfectly in the end. This was such a powerful reading experience, but I cannot stress enough: please check the trigger warnings before starting. This is not a typical dark romance or standard dark novel. It goes far beyond that. If you’re looking for something truly disturbing, emotionally consuming, and full of twists, this book might be exactly what you’re searching for. I became completely obsessed and could not stop turning the pages.

The Bleeding Hour by SB Rogue had me in a choke hold. Written dark and twisted. This one will stay with me forever. Had me hooked could not put down. Definitely for the dark and twisty readers. Highly recommend for readers who are looking for a book to grip you till the end.

This book is very well written and the way it's written is engaging. The characterizations and plot are thorough but not overwhelming. And the ending. While I thought I knew how the book would end I ended up being surprised by how the author brought everything together with a twist that made the rest of the book make total sense. I think readers who love pitch black characters and unhinged plots will really like this book. I would categorize it is a thriller/horror mix with paranormal elements that all come together with a climax twist that is very satisfying. However I only give it four stars because this is not a book I would read on the regular. My reading history is mostly dark romance with a thriller or two thrown in. The gore was a little overwhelming in spots for me and I very much prefer a happily ever after with the romance the central throughline of the story, neither of which occurred in this book. Truthfully when applying for this ARC I think I misunderstood what the plot was going to be about and that's on me. But SB Rogue is very talented and especially good at weaving in strong characterization with a compelling hook and if The Bleeding Hour is anything like their other books one heck of a last few chapters.
